Booth & Equipment Safety

Fire Permit Requirements

Vendors using cooking equipment, propane, generators, heat, open flame or electrical equipment may be subject to additional fire-safety requirements.

01

Cooking & Open Flame

If your booth uses grills, propane, fryers, or any open-flame cooking equipment, you must comply with all fire safety requirements and have the proper safety equipment at every event.

02

Propane & Fuel

All propane tanks must be secured in an approved propane cradle at all times. Propane cylinders must be properly connected, positioned upright, and used according to fire safety regulations.

Loose or unsecured propane tanks are not permitted.

03

Fire Extinguishers

Every food vendor using cooking equipment must have the appropriate fire extinguisher(s) on-site during the entire event:

- Grills, flat tops, or propane cooking (no oil): One approved ABC Fire Extinguisher is required.

- Deep fryers or any cooking with oil/grease: One approved Class K Fire Extinguisher is required.

- Using both a grill and a fryer/oil: You must have both an ABC Fire Extinguisher and a Class K Fire Extinguisher on-site.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in your booth being unable to operate until all fire safety requirements are met.

04

Tents & Booth Setup

Tents, canopies, booth materials and equipment placement must meet spacing, access and flame-resistance requirements.

Does Los Feliz Night Market issue permits?

Yes. We help vendors complete the Temporary Food Facility (TFF) permit process for our events. Simply fill out the required TFF application, sign it, and send it back to the Los Feliz Night Market team. Once we receive your completed paperwork, we submit your application to the Health Department as part of our event package.

Do all food vendors need a TFF permit?

Most food vendors are required to have a Temporary Food Facility (TFF) permit. The specific requirements depend on the type of food you serve. Our team will guide you through the process and let you know what documents and equipment are required for your booth.

Where do I submit my permit application?

You do not submit your TFF application directly to the Health Department for our event. Since permits are processed as part of the event, complete and sign your TFF application, then send it to Los Feliz Night Market. We will review it and submit it together with all participating vendors for the event.

How much is the TFF permit fee, and who do I pay?

The TFF permit fee varies depending on your food operation and the type of food you prepare. Once we determine the correct permit category, we’ll let you know the exact fee.

Permit fees must be paid to Los Feliz Night Market, not directly to the Health Department. Since all vendor permits are submitted together as part of the event, we collect the permit fees and submit one combined payment. This helps streamline the approval process and ensures your application is processed as quickly as possible.
